International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) demonstrate specialized knowledge and clinical expertise in breastfeeding/chestfeeding and human lactation and are certified by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE). Through encouragement, empowerment, and compassion, the Lactation Consultant can assist you and your newborn for breastfeeding success! During consultations, the IBCLC can assist with challenges such as: painful latch, sore nipples, babies with tongue/lip ties, baby with weight loss or slow weight gain, breast refusal, weaning, and many other concerns.

My career as a nurse began in 2010 when I graduated from NSCC as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). I decided to go back to school, and in 2019 I graduated from the LPN to RN pathway program from St. Francis Xavier University.

For nearly twelve years I have been fortunate to work with families and newborns. Bringing a baby into the world and becoming a parent is an exciting time, but can come with challenges and stress. My practice is strongly rooted in the belief that all families need and deserve support throughout this journey. Knowing that there was more I could do and learn, I completed the requirements to become an IBCLC in 2021. Sweet Pea Lactation Consulting was started to provide parents with the support they need to feel encouraged and empowered in how they choose to feed their baby.

My promise is to build your breastfeeding confidence and support you in achieving your feeding goals.
